I am a city person. I love Moscow, especially its historic centre. Yet the idea of experiencing life surrounded by nature has always been with me, particularly as I have spent many years designing country houses. Villa Forest was originally conceived for myself. I chose an 1,800-square-metre plot bordering a pine forest in a secluded residential community outside Moscow. My goal was to create a compact home with everything required for comfortable living. Within a 680-square-metre building, we were able to accommodate a multifunctional shared living area, three master suites, and all necessary technical spaces. It was equally important to create an architectural image that would feel naturally integrated into its surroundings. For this reason, the façade combines composite wood, Greek quartzite, and porcelain stoneware. This material palette ensures long-term durability with minimal maintenance while creating an appearance imbued with the spirit of the forest, expressed through simple geometric forms and a clear compositional structure. During construction, however, my priorities changed. I realised that I needed a larger house. This wonderful “little one” has already found new owners.
